Washington Balalaika Society – September 22

In concert- Sunday, September 22 at 4:00 p.m.  Donations will be accepted to support churches in Ukraine.  

Washington Balalaika Soceity  is a community orchestra of musicians who perform the music of Eastern Europe, Ukraine, Russia, and other countries, on traditional folk instruments.  The Society’s initial membership of eight has grown to more than 60, with musicians at all levels from beginner to professional—including teens as well as folks in their 90s and all ages in between!  The Society’s performing elements include the 55-60 person WBS Orchestra as well as several folk ensembles.

The WBS Orchestra has performed at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, with the Paul Hill Chorale and The Choral Arts Society of Washington; Carnegie Hall in New York; the Round Lake Auditorium in New York’s Adirondacks; the Embassy of the Russian Federation; James Madison University; Constitution Hall the Smithsonian; and the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D. C., to name just a few.
